Dry Skin Skincare Routine

Winter is here and I don’t know about you but my skin couldn’t be drier. Less humidity in the air means less moisture for our skin. I’ve finally honed in on a skincare routine(non-toxic of course) that is keeping my skin happy, hydrated and dare I say glowing? Why non-toxic products? Read more here why it matters what ingredients we use on our skin.

All of the products I use focus on not only hydration but also anti-aging. 36+ years, a former sun loving ginger and babies have done some damage to my face. Clean beauty and skincare has made leaps and bounds in creating effective anti-aging products that are safe and it’s easy to find products that really show results. Hyaluronic acid is a powerful and popular ingredient used in many of the products I talk about below. It actually attracts hydration/water to the skin and I don’t know if you know this but proper hydration is the key to anti-aging!

You will see the best results when you combine serums, oils and creams. I hear a lot that people are too busy or lazy to stick to a routine and I get that. I also think it’s worth considering a different approach. First, if you want to get what you paid for and see results using skincare consider this. Skincare collections/products are created to work together to Cleanse, Prep, Treat, and Protect your skin. I follow at least 3 of these steps both in the morning and at night. Second, think of your routine as self care. Use this as an opportunity to give yourself some TLC and pretend like you are at a spa. Put on some music that makes you happy and enjoy the 3-5 minutes the recommend routines will take you. I have come to truly enjoy doing something for myself everyday that will make me feel and look better.

A note about the products below. Most non-toxic products don’t contain artificial fillers which means they are highly concentrated so you only need a little bit for each use. Therefore these products below will last you a long time!

P.S. All of these products are pregnancy safe!

MY MORNING ROUTINE

CLEANSE: I rotate the Beautycounter CounterTime Cleansing Oil and the Primally Pure Dry Skin Oil. The Cleansing Oil has been a game changer for my skin!!

Cleansing Oil: Specifically formulated for dry skin, this product is made with a blend of age-defying oils known to detoxify the skin and dissolve impurities without over-drying so that you’re left with a complexion that feels soft, clean and nourished.

Once I wash and dry my face, I use 1 pump of this serum.

Infused with two forms of hyaluronic acid, this powerful serum absorbs quickly to deliver a concentrated boost of moisture for immediate and long-lasting hydration. Vitamins C and E provide antioxidant protection, while breakthrough Bio-Mimic Technology harnesses the unique life giving properties of plants to exactly match the structure of skin, giving it precisely what it needs.

Once my serum soaks in (about 1 minute), I use two pumps of this.

This lightweight lotion helps skin by adjusting hydration levels throughout the day for a smooth look and feel, and a radiant glow. Bio-Mimic Technology is hard at work here too.

OTHER ESSENTIALS: Caffeine Eye Cream

I put this eye cream on after the serum and before the moisturizer. Use your ring finger and dab from the outside of your eye inward.

Caffeine is an important ingredients in eye creams and this one has it! Caffeine rich green tea and coffee de-puffs while increasing circulation to brighten dark circles. Concentrated with potent anti-aging vitamins, antioxidants, and nourishing rosehip oil to make eye area look more awake.

Saie Tinted Moisturizer:

I pretty much wear this everyday.

It’s lightweight, hydrating and helps even out skin tone. It gives a luminous dewy glow. It also includes black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C to enhance skin brightness and sodium hyaluronate to promote firmer, smoother-looking skin.

P.S. I wear the shade #2

MY NIGHT ROUTINE

At night I love this super hydrating anti-aging cleansing balm.

This Vitamin C and fruit extract rich formula (to brighten and hydrate) legit feels like butter on your face and melts into your face. It also removes makeup wonderfully. You can use as a cleanser or leave on overnight as a mask. If you do that, wash your face in the morning although most of it will have been absorbed. I highly recommend trying it as an overnight mask.

Once I’ve washed and dried my skin, I use this serum.

This is a new addition to my routine and so far I’m a big fan. It’s very hydrating. Vitamin and antioxidant rich blend of the most potent + healing oils our planet has to offer. This serum helps to diminish fine lines, scarring, age spots, discolorations and more. The ingredients are super clean.

P.S. They have a specific pregnancy safe serum I’m using.

Once the serum soaks in (about 1 minute), I use a quarter sized scoop of this.

I don’t know how else to describe this cream other than luxurious. It has hyaluronic acid (key anti-aging ingredient) and superfoods to increase firmness and skin tone and to deliver intense hydration.

OTHER ESSENTIALS:

About every other night I use this little bottle of magic. A blend of over 15 botanical acids, this AHA/BHA peel that clears away dull surface cells and improves skin texture – without irritation or drying out skin. It (majorly) brightens skin tone and reduces the appearance of age spots and they have a convenient travel size! This is hands down Beautycounter’s most powerful product and I’m obsessed with the results.

Other ways to help fight dry winter skin:

Humidifier – Sleep with a humidifier on to help your face stay hydrated overnight! I have a simple one that works great. You will notice a difference in the hydration of your face if you use one. Only downside, if you put it too close to your face it can cause your hair to get a little frizzy

Hydration – Stay hydrated! We drink less water in winter since we are generally less active and when we are cold we don’t want as much water. Get bored of plain water? Add essential oils like lemon or lime to your water for a fun taste flair or load up on veggies and fruit that also naturally contain water in them too!
